As a first time delegate to the California Democratic Party convention I found it exciting, informative and great to be around like minded Progressives and Democrats.

This was one hundred percent virtual so I was skeptical it would work. They included wellness breaks, several caucus meetings and of course a big lineup of speakers including Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Tony Thurmond, Jamie Harrison, Jerry Brown, Dr. Shirley Weber and the list goes on and on.  But this year’s convention was on a whole different level.  There were a few technical glitches but overall the staff were great.
I attended the Salon Conversation about organizing in Spanish-speaking communities.  It was a thrill to be in the same space with Dolores Huerta. The takeaway is register our community to vote, educate them on the issues, and follow up with them frequently with text and WhatsApp. With so many choices I narrowed it down to the training extravaganza about implicit bias in action- anti-Asian hate session. This was very timely with a lot of great information.
As Delegates we can apply for the a wide range of Standing committees. On the last day we were able to vote on the bills the legislation committee recommended such as stopping the Newsom recall, AB1400 Heath care for all, broadband issues, homeless funding, etc. The complete list is included in the Reports Packet. I learned a few tips on how to improve the Club and am including more information and links that you might find helpful. As a whole Democrats are moving forward to make a better life for everyone in our beautiful state of California.

Petition Against SoCalGas: If you have not yet signed . Send a message to Governor Gavin Newsom - please sign this petition TODAY : Close the most dangerous gas storage facility in the state and stop the fake “restoration” at the Ballona Wetlands on the Los Angeles coast - it would help SoCalGas install new fossil fuel infrastructure.
